My Driver's License! Now with 100% More Federal Compliance!

I guess one of the perks of getting my whole purse and wallet stolen was the fact that I had to renew my license for my 21st birthday. So Corinne and I took a field trip to the local DMV to get my new license.

After missing the turn and almost hitting a dude in a pickup on the way in, we took a number and got behind the other half of the state. Seriously, like 50% of the population of Delaware must've been there, and like 50% of that 50% had tattoos and looked like trash. We were A286, and we came in where it was A212. So it was good there were two of us to talk, because I had no book with me.

Once I got up to the front of the window - 2 hours later - I provided all the information to the guy behind the counter. He stared at me like I was stupid and asked "And where's your old driver's license?" I had to explain my whole purse got stolen, and he pretended to be sympathetic. He told me that I had enough stuff to have a federally compliant license (well, duh, that was the point) and when it came time to pay, he saw my check and said "I can't accept third party checks." It was one from my Mom, I don't have a checkbook myself yet. Thank God Corinne was there, again, because she had her debit card and ID and I can pay her back.

So yeah. I have a license now. And it's semi-cute. And in a month, it'll be flipped horizontal.

In The Summatime, When The Weather's Fine...

It's been a while since I talked about what I've been up to. Other than getting a new phone (which is seriously my favorite new toy, it's insane), I decided to go to MMRBQ with a bunch of the crew around here. MMRBQ is this huge concert that WMMR hosts every year, and this year the lineup didn't disappoint. The bands playng were Automatic Fire, Dive, Skillet, Fuel, Three Days Grace, Alice in Chains, and Stone Temple Pilots. I'm not a fan of hard rock, so really I was just going to do something and because I figured an all day rock show with my friends would be fun.

And it was awesome! Unfortunately what started as a 6 person group going turned into 3 people - me, Madeleine, and Chad (Madeleine's boyfriend). So essentially I was third wheeling it, but it was fun. I knew that I wouldn't feel too bad as a third wheel because they're not much for PDA thank God. So after introducing Chad to the beauty of WaWa hoagies, we were off to Camden. And the concert was great! I mean, the two headliners were okay, but the best one was Skillet, this Christian hard rock band. They played an acoustic cover of "Enter Sandman" and I was sold.

That was the main event of the summer so far. Today Corinne and I decided to celebrate her last day of classes at CSW by laying outside in our bikinis and trying to tan (or burn, in my case) in the 93+ degree weather before I went off to Chelsea's barbeque for a little bit. Tomorrow is lunch and chilling out with Laura and Rachel.

Ah, summertime...

Stephen Fry Thinks My State is Lame

Sort of a bummer, but at least he knows where it is.

Project Runway and Scrabble

So after going to the doctor yesterday morning and picking up some vitamins for school (you would never believe how expensive they are, who knew?), the family and I hit Hibachi for some yummy dinner and then I headed over to Laura's for the Project Runway premiere.

Much to her delight (and my disappointment, I was gunning for Korto), Danny V won the All Star challenge, and the night was set for a Tim Gunn overhaul. The premiere was fun, and I did like the winner (hated the guest judge, though, Lindsay Lohan has a powerful strain of bitch face), but really, the highlight of the night was Scrabble.

That's right. Scrabble with Brandon, Laura, and Rachel until about 2 AM. It got to the point where Rachel and I just had shit vowels. I got second place, but more importantly, I didn't quit halfway through like I usually do with Scrabble. I get fed up with the game pretty quick, oddly enough.

Three Reasons Why I Miss My High School

If you follow me on Twitter (which you should), you may have heard me mention that I couldn't find my quote pages from high school. Essentially, they were mini-webpages that I made through Tripod to keep all my quotes I gathered in my notebook(s) through sophomore, junior, and senior years.

And I thought I lost them forever. Until I downloaded the latest Internet Explorer and lo and behold, found that I had favorited the sites on my home PC. I had no such luck with the Mac.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but FAIL little laptop! I almost Cash for Clunker'd the desktop and BAM! it finds something useful!

So here they are. Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years of high school. Because I'm feeling nostalgic, and I know that they're probably far more entertaining than anything I'll say on this blog. So enjoy my friends from years past and find out why I love them so much/took so many pictures of them.

Boy Scout Entertainment

As you may/may not know, I'm heading north of the border in a few weeks (not as fun as South of The Border, but whatever) to Corolla in the Outer Banks. Laura, Corinne, Sarah, Mom, and Dad and I are heading down on the 18th, and we found out that the Outer Banks, well...

...there's not much town there. There's an aviation museum (for the Wright Brothers), the beach, restaurants, more beach, golf, and more beach.

So I've decided (with the help of Matt Biddle) to hold a beach photo scavenger hunt. You try to find as many of the things listed on or around the beach or town you're staying in, take pictures of them, and then upload them to Facebook.

I just need ideas to take pictures of on the beach.

Do You Strongly Dislike, Somewhat Dislike, or Just Want To Hang Up?

I pity telemarketers.

From journalism class, I know that they commonly call during dinner hours because they know that's when people are home to answer their questions or take their surveys. I know that my age demographic is tough to get to because we're rarely home at the time they call, and we're better with cell phones than we are with landlines. I also know that they have a very low chance of success because people hang up on them or yell at them before slamming the phone back down on the cradle.

So when one called last night asking me specifically about the proposed national health care plan, I took pity on them and decided to go through with the survey. And damn was it long.

Because at the end of the day, they do need my age group in statistics. And I really feel horrible for the people stuck with a telemarketer job because it must just be a self-esteem killer, having people curse you out and slam the phone down in attempt to never talk to you. I want to know how many people take the time to answer the questions they ask, even if your dad is yelling at you that it's dinner time. I know Mom does because she feels bad too.

First EMTs, Now the Blue Bonnet Man

Just to establish, I'm very particular about my ice cream. And not the vanilla, as the header implies. I'm really a peppermint chocolate chip kind of girl. And when I want prime peppermint chocolate chip ice cream, I head over to Woodside Creamery, our friendly neighborhood farm/ice cream stand.

Now if you've read the old blog that I accidentally deleted, you know I've had some fun sightings at the creamery—the most fun being the EMTs and emergency services vehicle that showed up not for defibrillation, but for some Rocky Road.

Tonight was even better, because the Blue Bonnet ice cream truck had the gall to drive past with its music box jingle wailing its way down North Star. It then turned into the Woodside Driveway for some grub.
