I Have a Nazi Dog

Anyone who has seen pictures of my dog Samson (Sam, for short) has seen an adorable golden retriever, an 80-plus pound toddler running around my house playing in the snow, stealing my undies and generally being too adorable to be mad at. But just the other day we noticed this weird patch of black under his nose. It's sort of like Sam grew a little Charlie Chaplin 'stache without us noticing.

I mean, he's a blond already, and now he's growing an Adolf under that adorable wet nose of his. And he has the Sieg Heil move down pat, he's constantly putting his front paw up on our laps when he wants attention. You know, when whining, crying, barking, and stealing our socks doesn't work.

I think I have a Nazi dog.

The Second Time I Hated Snow

I was supposed to go to DC tonight to do a networking night. You know, to meet people. Unfortunately, snow decided to hit at the most inopportunte time.

It all started yesterday when I was at Border having lunch with Laura. I thought that would be the end of the snow, meaning it was just a really violent flurry. But then I went to sleep and BAM there was snow on the ground.

My parents were originally not going to let me go (which is sort of ridiculous, I'm 21, I could take a train, they can't really ground me). But then I wake up and they're like, "Yeah, I-95 will be clear."

Naturally as soon as I get the go ahead, they cancel it. Bummer!

My TV Doesn't Work for Good Channels

I just noticed over the last week that my television is crappier than previously thought.

So I've had this thing since I was like 13, so it's now over 7 years old. It has a VCR still built into it - not that it's a good one that works, but it's there nonetheless - and it has wavy lines all over the screen. The kind that when cable is sort of cruddy and you haven't watched the channel lately, the ones higher up on the dial, they fuzz out? That's sort of what my TV does to every channel.

But now I discover that like 3+ channels that I usually watch have no sound to them. Like, silent movie without the music. I can't watch E! (which is a problem, because that's where "The Soup" is). I can't watch TBS (which is where "Conan" is). And I can't watch USA (which is where "House" marathons and general time wasters are).

I don't know when this started, but I don't get why some channels are perfectly fine (like the never watched Nickelodeon) but these other ones aren't.

Winter Break Sucks

I usually love Winter Break, and I'll probably regret this post in the near future. But I'm really not feeling this one.

Sure, I got to go home for Christmas, which was great. I got to see friends, I got to ring in the new year, got to work a bit, etc. But it's really lacking in snow.

Seriously. For all the "blizzard" talk last week, we got a dust and that was about it. If it's going to be winter, I really wish it would look like it and act like it.

Like, if I can walk outside in a t-shirt to go to the gym without a jacket on, that's not winter. That's crap.

The New Year's Resolution

Everyone makes a New Year's resolution, even if it's not to make a resolution—which, by the way, is a total cop out. So rather than making the useless resolution to eat better (HAHAHA) or work out more (which I'm doing whether I resolve to or not) or lose 20 pounds.

I'm resolving to update this blog more often. This thing has been untouched since finals week. Actually, probably before finals week.

So hold me to it, I'm blogging at least 3 times a week next semester, if not more often. This can't turn into the unupdated blog of disappointment.

Mo Finals, Mo Problems

As nervous as I am about the real world next year, I'm really super psyched that I will no longer have to write 12-15 pages about stuff I'm sick of talking about.

In the next two to three weeks, I will need to finish that paper (which by now is done and ready to be turned in), do a multimedia presentation — which includes a video, audios slideshow, audio standalone, still photos, text, maps, graphs, and interactives, write two essays for Holocaust, write two longer essays for Magical Realism (one of which is due next week, one of which is due during finals), and take a test in Italian.

Grumble grumble grumble grumble.

Amishville USA

I haven't seen my little sister Corinne since August, so going to get her tonight is sort of awesome. The problem here is that she lives in Bumble. And not just any bumble. She goes to Lebanon Valley College in Annville PA, in the heart of the Amish community.

I kid you not. When we decided when to pick her up for Thanksgiving break, we had to take into consideration that Wednesday is Amish meeting (church) night and that there would be mad buggy traffic going to her school. That's how Amish her school is.

I'm making a bet with Corinne that we'll see like 12 carriages tonight. Any takers?
